Rhinophyma (Bulbous Nose) Treatment
GK Dermatology offers South Weymouth MA rhinophyma treatment.
What is Rhinophyma?
Rhinophyma (bulbous nose) is excessive tissue growth that appears in the late stages of rosacea. This condition is commonly associated with redness, enlarged pores, and large oily glands. Rhinophyma can become extremely disfiguring, and causes social and functional problems.
S Weymouth MA Rhinophyma Treatment Overview
Surgical correction of mild-to-moderate cases is safe and yields predictable results. Rhinophyma is treated with modalities such as radiosurgery (see pictures below) and resurfacing lasers such as CO2 laser. Textural irregularities improve substantially, and the number of large oily glands decrease.
Rhinophyma Treatment Aftercare
Postoperative care is very similar to other skin resurfacing procedures. The tissue will initially appear dry, brown and leathery, and as healing progresses, will turn pink. The erythema (pink color) can persist for weeks or months, but generally fades faster.
Dr. Kroumpouzos has been performing these procedures for over 15 years in the South Shore area, and patients at GK Dermatology are very satisfied with the results. If you are interested in the procedure please contact our office for a consultation.
